FOOTIE BANTER KICKS OFF FOR TRAVEL CONVENTION

Forget Celtic versus Rangers, Real Madrid versus Barcelona, England versus Germany. The biggest grudge match in world football this summer will be the Youtravel.com operators team versus the C&M Travel Recruitment's agents and suppliers team.

Maybe it won't have the scenes of passion outside of the stadium that you might expect from a West Ham/Millwall FA Cup final. And it might not reach the technical quality of a Brazil versus Argentina World Cup match up. But the travel industry football bragging rights are at stake. And that is, surely, of equal or greater importance.

The football season is about to kick off... and not to be left out travel industry “athletes” are already honing their skills in preparation for the annual match at the Travel Convention.

This near-legendary match, dubbed “the Clash of the Titans,” will once again see travel’s finest footballing talent take to the pitch to prove that they’ve still got it. Whatever ‘it’ might be.

Leading the teams are Paul Riches – gaffer of the Youtravel.com and operators team, and Angus Chisholm – boss of C&M Travel Recruitment’s agents and suppliers team.

If you’re heading out to the convention in Gran Canaria and want to join in the grudge match of the year then email footballtalent@candm.co.uk before September 1, 2008.

Whether you’re a football fan, a player, or just up for laughing at others’ obvious pain and distress, coming along to the football match, it is a great way to kick off the Travel Convention. The bar opens from 3.30pm so if you fancy starting the convention with a social drink, come along.  The match starts at 4pm and there’ll be a chance to win a holiday at half-time.

And so that everyone has a chance to celebrate the winners’ success and commiserate with the losers, youtravel.com and C&M Travel Recruitment are taking over the official convention bar on after the football. The Icebreaker party is taking place at the Villa del Conde hotel from 9pm on Monday night.  There will be a holiday up for grabs, drinking and dancing and a few surprises along the way – the perfect way to start the Travel Convention.
