British Airways cabin crew and admin staff will today hold a mass meeting where they could reject cuts and redundancies planned by the airline, and set it on course for a summer of industrial strife.

The meeting at Kempton race course in Middlesex will discuss the airline's plans to create new pay and conditions contracts and cut 4,000 jobs ahead of a meeting between unions and management, brokered by the conciliation service Acas, on Wednesday.

Crew have already threatened strike action and it is reported that proposals for a two-year pay freeze and altered contracts for the 14,000-strong workforce will be rejected by a large majority.

Some reports claim the airline is planning to impose a revised terms and conditions contract with a 90-day "sign or you’re sacked" deadline, which unions will reject

The airline said an agreement had not been reached with unions and that conciliation service Acas would be facilitating future meetings.
