Expedia enters venture with Guardian.co.uk
Monday, August 03, 2009 Expedia Affiliate Network has struck a partnership agreement with The Guardian. Readers of the newspaper's online travel section will have access to Expedia’s travel booking engine. Guardian.co.uk claimed it receives 30 million global unique users per month with more than one million visiting the travel pages. Kate Morgan-Locke, head of ventures at Guardian News and Media, said: “The travel section of our site is consistently one of the most popular with our readers. "Our users take multiple holidays throughout the year from longer holidays to more exotic destinations, to weekend city breaks and everything in between, so it was key for us to partner with a travel company that does offer a wide range of options specifically tailored to each individual customers needs. "The scale of the Expedia product offering and the destinations served is second to none and we look forward to working with them.” Henrik Kjellberg, president of Expedia Affiliate Network, said: “We have a long history of working with travel companies, but over the past few years we have had a clear strategy of looking to sign partners from outside the travel arena including those from within the media sphere. "The quantity and quality of the Guardian community, we hope, will make this partnership a success moving forward. "Expedia is constantly developing in and investing in its white label and affiliate technology to provide our partners with the most up to date and flexible solutions in the market." • Expedia unveils global ambitions (15 May 2009)
