Hoseasons has taken more than 1,000 online bookings in one day for the first time in its history.
The operator believes receding wintery weather combined with January’s payday to give a huge boost to bookings.
Last Sunday's total reached 1,001 web bookings with more than 2,500 over Friday, Saturday and Sunday combined.
Overall bookings were 14% up for January compared with 2009 which was itself a record year for Hoseasons.
Commercial Director Pali Badwal said: “The improvement in the weather has come at just the right time, coinciding as it did with people getting paid at the end of January.
“To take over 1,000 online bookings in a single day is an indication of just how much pent-up demand there is, for UK holidays in particular, and it backs up our prediction that we are going to see another strong year for domestic tourism.
“We are delighted to see that included in these figures are several hundred agent bookings, which shows our online offer is proving to be attractive and easy to use for agents, and that they are taking advantage of this increasingly important channel.”
