London’s Grosvenor House hotel – home to the TTG Travel Awards – is expected to be put up for sale this month.

The five-star property in Park Lane is currently owned by Royal Bank of Scotland which has now put the 494-room hotel up for sale.

RBS, which is majority-owned by the UK government, has pumped about £135 million into renovating the Grosvenor House including the addition of 48 rooms.

Reports say the hotel, which is currently operated by Marriott, is to be sent to potential buyers in the next few weeks.

There has been speculation that the property may be purchased by upmarket property developers the Candy brothers.

The Grosvenor’s
Great Room can host functions for more than 2,000 people and is one of London’s most popular venues for award ceremonies and corporate dinners.

RBS has twice tried to sell the hotel in recent years but failed to find a buyer.
