Grace Hotels, the Athens-based luxury hotel group, is to add a third property to its portfolio, taking on the historic Poseidonion Hotel on the island of Spetses.
The hotel will now be known as Poseidonion Grace as part of a partnership with Spetses Initiative and will join Grace’s hotels in Santorini and Mykonos.
Spetses is one of the closest islands to Athens – accessed by ferry or helicopter - and the hotel has recently undergone a five-year restoration programme including preservation of original architecture.
The hotel’s 45 double rooms and seven apartment suites all feature private gardens or balconies with views of the sea or pool. The best room in the house is the Grace Suite, with its split-level La Cupola suite and Honeymoon Suite with its own pool.
The Poseidonion Grace includes a Japanese Fusion restaurant, which opens in July and August, and a spa which was the first hotel in Greece to offer seawater-based therapies.
Grace Kea is also in development in the Cyclades islands and each of the 32 rooms will have pools when the resort opens later in 2011.
Grace Hotels is also planning to open a new hotel in the traditional New England village of Kennebunkport, favoured by American glitterati.
The Grace Riverside Inn will open in early 2011 with 21 rooms, as well the Grace Suite, a self-contained cottage built on stilts over the river.
