Struggling Irish airline Aer Lingus is to make 230 cabin crew redundant as it looks to reduce costs.
Union officials at Impact have been consulted by the company and cabin crew members based at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports will be briefed over the next few days. Cabin crew have already rejected a cost-cutting plan.
The carrier is also looking to shed another 440 jobs through voluntary redundancies in other departments after workers voted in favour of a €97 million restructuring deal.
Earlier this week, Aer Lingus reported losses of €66.2 million for last year, compared to a profit of €18.8 million in 2008. Average fares slumped by 17% despite a 4% increase in passenger numbers.
