A number of London’s luxury hotels are to roll out top-spec new suites this year, despite the recession.
The Knightsbridge Jumeirah Carlton Tower will unveil its new Royal Suite in June, the work of Khuan Chew, the respected designer behind Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, another Jumeirah property.
The 155-sq-m Royal Suite will come with balcony, fibre-optic ‘star-lit’ ceiling, private butler, expansive lounge, fully-equipped galley kitchen, freestanding bar and state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen audio visual technology.
The Jumeirah Carlton Tower’s Royal Suite will cost from £7,000 per night.
Fashionistas meanwhile will be flocking to Claridge’s for the chance to stay in one of the new suites being designed by Diane Von Furstenberg (pictured, at the hotel)
The suites mark the fashion designer’s first interior design project - some of her past collections are even said to have been inspired by the hotel. Von Furstenberg, known for her wrap-dresses, iconic prints and bold colours, is a long-time guest of the hotel.
“One of my fondest memories was when I was in London as a young, independent businesswoman and stayed at Claridge’s. I knew I had made it. To me, Claridge’s is the most glamorous hotel in the world; I regard it as my home away from home,”
said the designer.
The Langham, which has only just completed its £80 million renovations, is currently working on a super-suite to outrank its Infinity Suite, which itself was hailed as one of the best in London when it opened several years ago.
The hotel is knocking several rooms into one to make the new suite.
