Allbury Travel ceases trading

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Chris Gray

Allbury Travel Group, owner of Greek specialist Libra Holidays, has gone into administration.

Allbury ceased trading with fewer than 100 customers abroad and about 4,000 forward bookings, most of them placed through travel agents.

The Hertfordshire-based company traded as Libra Holidays, Argo Holidays and Jetlife and operated air package holidays and flights out of Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford airports to Greece, Cyprus and Egypt. It sold mostly through the trade.

The Civil Aviation Authority said it was making arrangements for customers abroad to complete their holidays and return to the UK and to fully refund those with forward bookings.

Allbury Travel Group was owned by British Virgin Islands-based Allbury Ltd, which is controlled by Elias Elia, chief executive of credit card payment processing company E-Clear.

E-Clear was yesterday said to owe more than £30 million to collapsed travel company Globespan Group.

Sad day indeed.
We did alot of Libra during the summer season and never really had any major problems with them, allways found them quite accommodating and passenger feedback was allways good.
Wish everyone at Libra the best of luck and i remember during my time at Flyjet, Stella in the cyprus duty office, if you're reading, keep up the tan and you always gave us a laugh even through the most difficult of times.
Another proffessional company and staff that will be sadly missed throught the trade.
Thanks
