Thai hotels help stranded tourists
Thursday, November 27, 2008 Amid rumours of an imminent move by the Thai army to force the protesters out of Bangkok airport, some suppliers in the region are taking measures to help travellers affected by the crisis. The Krabi Hotel Association met today and announced it would provide up to three nights’ free room stay with breakfast for guests whose flights home have been cancelled. Member hotels are also waiving cancellation fees for no-shows during this period. Umaporn Sriraksa, general manager at the Pakasai resort in Krabi, said: “After all the work we’ve done to recover and build tourism after the tsunami, this could really set us back. "But I hope what we’re doing now to look after our visitors will remind people why they want to come to Thailand: our hospitality, friendliness and genuine care for our guests.”
