Eurostar fares go on GetThere
Friday, June 19, 2009 Eurostar tickets will be available to business travellers on the GetThere self-booking tool from next month. The cross-channel rail company will display its full content of fares on the Sabre-owned system. GetThere sales director Jason Geall said travellers will see air and rail fares on the screen at the same time, which he claims makes the booking process more efficient. In order to access fares, the corporate will first have to inform its travel management company. The system is compatible with all the global distribution systems, Galileo, Worldspan, Amadeus and Sabre. Geall, a former Eurostar employee, told TTG the number of rail bookings made on the self-booking tool is growing. Travellers can already access domestic rail fares and tickets on the Continent though French train operator SNCF. Eurostar will be see as a valuable addition to the product by business travellers. Geall said: “Demand has been growing for some time. Following Eurostar we will be looking to bring in content from other areas such as Germany and Scandinavia.”
