The Baltic region’s first ESPA spa has been making its mark with locals and visitors since recently opening its doors in the Latvian capital, Riga.
Adjoining the Reval Hotel Latvija, the city’s first premium-brand spa is situated in a revamped 19th-century building designed by renowned art nouveau architect Konstantins Peks ens. Cutting-edge contemporary design is combined with the building’s period features.
Visual highlights of the six-storey spa include a spectacular golden spiral staircase leading down to a black tiled 18-metre pool. Extensive facilities include a fitness studio, manicure and pedicure studios, ESPA Cafe and on the top floor a thermal complex with saunas, baths, relaxation rooms and open-air vitality pool with city views.
Signature treatments include the Amber Crystal Chakra Balancing treatment – which uses one of the country’s most important products, semi-precious amber stones.
ESPA chief executive Susan Harmsworth says: “Entering ESPA Riga is like stepping into Riga’s ambitious future. Creating this spa has been an incredibly exciting project for us. It’s a unique space in which to escape and revitalise in the heart of the city.”
After a hard day’s pampering or taking in the city’s attractions, a good way to start or round off an evening is in the buzzing Sky Bar on the Reval Latvija’s 26th floor, with panoramic city views.
The hotel has one of the region’s largest conference centres with a capacity of 3,000. Just down the road is its stylish boutique sister property, The Reval Hotel Elizabete, which opened last year.
