Sabre's GetThere starts consultancy
Tuesday, September 29, 2009 Sabre-owned self-booking suite GetThere has launched a consultancy service targeting medium-sized and multi-national companies in Europe. The project is spearheaded by former Wal-Mart global travel manager Duane Futch and GetThere’s EMEA director Jason Geall. The pair told ttgbusiness.com the company’s experts would advise corporates on how to make travel policies more efficient. They stressed, however, the venture was not set up to rival travel management companies, most of which have established consultancy arms since the demise of airline commission. Futch said the company would collaborate with TMCs where necessary. They also insisted advice would be objective and not used as an opportunity to peddle Sabre technology and Geall said initial focus would be on Sabre and GetThere’s own clients. There was a growing demand in Europe for travel cost-cutting advice, said Futch.“Today’s economic environment has many corporations in Europe taking a deep look at their travel programs in the quest for great value, policy compliance and consistent performance," he said. "Our consulting programs are focused on working in a collaborative fashion with our GetThere and TMC customers by driving actionable solutions with measurable results.”
