South African Airways have announced a new CEO. Replacing the present Acting CEO, Chris Smyth, will be Ms Siza Mzimela. Ms Mzimela takes up this position as of 1st March and will be the airline's first female CEO.

Cheryl Carolus, chairperson for the SAA said "We warmly welcome Ms Mzimela as the new CEO of SAA following an extensive and thorough process to find a suitable candidate for this position"


"With her extensive experience in the airline industry, and especially her knowledge of the inner workings of SAA, she is the ideal candidate to fulfill the mandate of SAA to be an African airline with global reach".

The Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona has appointed a new General Manager to succeed Luis Marco who is retring from a hospitality career spanning 45 years. Gerard Sintes will be the new man at the helm and brings with him almost 30 years of experience in the global luxury hospitality industry.

He joins the Mandarin Oriental from One and Only Cape Town where he was responsible for the hotel opening in 2009.

Christopher Mares, Director of Operations, EMEA for Mandarin Hotel Group said "Luis Marco's vast experience and commitment was instrumental in ensuring a highly successful launch of our new Barcelona property" before going on to say "we welcome Gerard Sintes to Mandarin Oriental. I am confident he will build on the early successes of Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona. With his extensive international exerience of operating luxury hotels around the world, he will be ideally placed to further the position of the hotel as one of the best in Southern Europe."
