ttgluxury experience to Australia
ttgluxury is running a series of fam trips for agents called ttgluxury Experiences and on each trip, we take a group of premium travel professionals to truly experience the luxury side of key destinations. Please note, the deadline for entering has now passed.
Coming up next is Australia - the fourth ttgluxury Experience in the series, and our second of 2010 (Jordan is coming up soon; and to read about our previous trips to Anguilla and Tenerife, click here).
This next thrilling trip is being hosted by our partners at Tourism Australia, Emirates Airline and Emirates Hotels & Resorts.
Being the world’s largest island, it’s no surprise Australia has everything from deserts to snow-capped mountains; tropical rainforests to gorgeous beaches, but the best bit - you can take in all its highlights yet still stay in incredible comfort, as Australia boasts an increasing range of luxury accommodation options and experiences.
From remote eco-lodges in Tasmania and island hideaway retreats in Queensland; to boutique hotels in Melbourne or classic Orient Express properties in Sydney, Australia has more than enough luxury options for travellers these days. Gourmets, wine-lovers, art fans and culture-seekers will all find plenty in each state to keep them happy.
One of the latest arrivals on the scene is Emirates Hotels and Resorts’ new wilderness lodge, Wolgan Valley, which is Australia’s first luxury wildlife and conservation-based resort. It couldn’t have opened at a better time – just when everyone is keen to find authentic experiences and stay at places where all the green boxes have been ticked.
“We are delighted to partner with ttgluxury and use the launch of the new Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa as a platform to tell the Australian story to luxury travel agents: Australia has the unique experiences your clients are looking for,” said Ben Janeczko, distribution development manager, UK for Tourism Australia.
“Tourism Australia has been successfully targeting the luxury market in the UK for the past few years. But we know the luxury specialists in the travel trade can find it difficult to put together an offering for Australia, simply because they haven’t been exposed to the product before.”

What the trip involves
The six lucky agents who join the ttgluxury Experience to Australia, will get the chance to stay at Wolgan Valley and Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island in South Australia, as well as visiting Sydney and Adelaide, and the country’s premium wine region, the Barossa Valley.
The ttgluxury Experience will take place in the spring, with flights on Emirates Airline departing from the UK on April 16 for Sydney (via Dubai) and returning from Melbourne on April 25.

Wolgan Valley
Hidden away on the western side of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, Wolgan Valley is a world-class conservation-based resort bordered by two national parks. It’s spread across the valley floor and the resort itself occupies just two per cent of the almost 4,000 acre-estate, with the rest of the area turned over to biodiversity and wildlife conservation and research.
This Australian homestead-style resort has just 40 suites with all the modern comforts and a Timeless Spa, as well as a 25-metre infinity pool. Each suite is assigned mountain bikes to explore this breathtaking area, or they can take in the magical scenery and go wildlife spotting by horseback. For interpretation on the ancient story of the area, guests can hear tales from the Aboriginal perspective too.
Southern Ocean Lodge
Hailed as Australia’s first luxury lodge when it opened in 2008, the lodge is found on Kangaroo Island, hailed as ‘Australia’s Galapagos’ thanks to its abundance of native wildlife, including koalas, seals and Australian sea lions.
Kangaroo Island is celebrated for its spectacular coastal vistas and the location of Southern Ocean Lodge is perfect for absorbing this scenery from the comfort of a modern hotel setting, with the lodge designed to be an architectural attraction in its own right. Perched atop a dramatic cliff, there are just 21 contemporary suites and a spa.
Our airline partner The group will depart in April 2010 from Heathrow, one of the six UK airports served by Emirates Airline flying one-stop to Australia. There will be 70 flights a week to Australia by the end of 2009.
Participation Places on the trip will be subject to the Terms & Conditions (available here) and by your participation on this trip you agree to complete trip feedback forms, provide photographs taken on the trip and any pre-and post-event publicity in TTG and ttgluxury.
